The care of sick and premature babies in England will be governed by new standards set out in a report by an NHS taskforce.

Bliss
The NHS Neonatal Taskforce Toolkit was launched on Wednesday by Ann Keen MP at Bliss' 30th birthday event. It is a set of principles to guide neonatal health teams to provide a world class service and is the best opportunity in 30 years to raise the neonatal standards. It's only a first step though and Bliss will be ke...eping a close eye on the government and NHS to make sure every single principle is put into practiceRead More

One of the key findings is that, although there have been numerous government reports published over the last 30 years recommending better services for sick and premature babies, not one has ever been fully implemented. Bliss has launched its 30th birthday baby report, Three decades and counting, which looks back over 30 years of Bliss and neonatal care.

Jody Richardson We support Bliss because our premature daughter died just two hours after her birth and we don't want that to happen to any other family ever again. Sadly it still is happening to some families but Bliss are doing a fantastic job of trying to stop it. But to do that they need as much help as possible. I just wanted to say thanks to them and good luck to all who need their help right now and in the future.

Amy-Lara Griffiths Gloucestershire Bliss - SORRY BUT THE GROUP TOMORROW IS CANCELLED FOR PERSONAL REASONS. However, the group will be meeting again on 10th Novemeber at the Oaks Children Centre, Tuffley, Gloucester 11am-12:30.

Gloucestershire Bliss are looking at the possibility of relocating to Cheltenham in order to support more families throughout the county. However, in the meantime we are still meeting every fortnight in Gloucester & need more members to keep us running :-)

Lisa Baade I just wrote a post on my blog today about helping premmies with their speech development. Thought I would share.

Baby Sign Language could prove to be very beneficial for premature babies as they are in a higher risk category for developing a speech delay.
