Ana Books are great gifts because they can transport you to worlds far from your own, uplifting the reader and at times giving them hope and inspiration, solving a problem and giving them the courage to face their fears.

Lystra Books can be a wonderful gift apart from the joy it gives the sender in knowing he can help enhance someone's reading for the receiver and reader of those said books it opens up one's mind to endless vocabulary, a world of imagination and the reader's mind to endless possibilities. It might even inspire them to become... authors. Books also make great gifts because they can be very sentimental to the person reading them and they can take them anywhere whether they are traveling or even to bed for a few hours reading before sleep hits

Alexa  Books are great gifts - and great prizes! I won a package of them from BooksAreGreatGifts.com. Not sure currently which specific titles I got, but fingers crossed for George Carlin, Stephen Fry, and Malcolm Gladwell.

Katie Moran Books are great gifts because you can go anywhere, meet all different kinds of people, and travel through time. Like the Discovery channel in printed form! Also, they can travel with you and keep you company wherever you may go - you never have to leave them behind (that's love). Finally, books are great gifts because ...Santa loves books: no further reasons necessary! :-)

Books make great gifts because they educate, entertain and enchant, never run out of batteries, make no noise, can be shared with friends and family, are passed on to children and siblings, are never outgrown, keep you company wherever you go and provide a terrific value for your money.

Elyse Dinh Books are great gifts because you're making a memory between you and the recipient, one that's hopefully enduring. Every time I open a book someone gave me, it releases a floodgate of memories about that person (even if he/she is gone from my life), all the great times we shared and specifically the circumstances in wh...ich I received the book. It doesn't just contain a story within its pages; it IS a story.

Michelle When I'm reading a book, I usually think of a friend who might also like it. Then guess what they get for Christmas? It's more of a sharing, personal gift, because I'm trying to give them the good experience I had when I read the book. Books also say a lot about people, so when I get a book as a gift, I'm always humble...d to discover that piece of the giver's experience.

Dawn Lennon Giving books is like giving someone you like an all expenses paid vacation to a destination that touched, inspired, and expanded you so that your connection with them will become richer.

Last year for Christmas, I bought everyone in my family a book and it was a great experience. The trick is not to give them something you like, but something they will like. It forces you to really consider your loved ones’ interests, as opposed to thinking along the lines of what they “need” (new socks, a tea kettle, ...etc.)

Maura Lynch The gift of a book is the best present to give, in my humble opinion. You can find a book to match anyone's tastes, interests, passions or introduce someone to new worlds. May I please add that Red Planet Noir by D.B. Grady is fantabulous for sci fi and mystery fans? Oh, and death to Kindle!

Diana I love giving books away in general, holidays or no, because each book given feels like I'm sharing a piece of myself, my heart, something I love, with someone I love (or even someone I don't know all that well, but want to know well). Each book represents one small part of my variegated being. We can't share our exa...ct experiences with our loved ones, but we can share a book, and that is pretty close. Secondhand books with your own annotations in the margins get bonus points!

Susan I give books as gifts because there is nothing better than reading a great book that stays with you long after you've read it. To give someone the chance to have that same experience really shows how much you value that person.

Jesse Ship Books make great gifts because they are a (near) guaranteed source of wisdom, entertainment and friendship for centuries to come and eons passed! Don't let the book become extinct! Save the books! I'm proud to be a collector and documentarian. :)

Katie Fleming I love giving books because they stick with you--my family has a collection of Christmas books we've been growing since I was a kid that I still read through every year--they never get old! I also make a point to give my younger cousins books every year--encouraging kids to start reading while they're young is so important to make them readers for life!
