In May this year I spent 3 weeks studying at Habla Ya Language Centre in Boquete and I thought it was about time that I wrote a ‘review’ to say how much I enjoyed myself.I had previously done two Spanish language courses; one in Madrid, Spain and the other in Turrialba, Costa Rica. However, Habla Ya was by the far the ...best and I would certainly recommend it to anyone, perhaps as a really good starting point for travelling north through Central America or south through South America. The school had a really positive and energetic atmosphere about it with all the staff making me feel very welcome.Read More

I am currently studying Spanish at Newcastle University in England, and although I know that spending nearly 7 months in Central America has helped me to speak Spanish more fluently, the three weeks that I spent in Boquete were certainly the most useful as I ironed out numerous areas of uncertainty with the help of my... teacher, Monica. Along with my fellow student, Mellissa, we would talk about everything. I would complain about how expensive England was and that I didn’t like to go shopping. Monica and Mellissa would talk about how they loved to go shopping! We would play scrabble, we would work on our grammar and we would learn plenty of the Panamanian lingo (¿Qué xopá?, una racataca, una goma,) as well as about the country’s diverse culture.
Special mention should also go to María and her lovely family with whom I stayed. They always looked after me and made me feel at home.Read More

(Part 3)
Although Boquete is quite a small town, there were plenty of activities on offer for us to participate in during our free time. Whether it was meeting up on Monday evenings for a meal cooked by Jaime (aka Jamie Oliver), watching a Hispanic / Latin American film on Wednesday evenings, dancing the night away in L...a Cabaña, the local nightclub, hiking the beautiful Sendero de los Quetzales or going White Water Rafting over the weekends, there was plenty to keep oneself occupied.
I left with many fond memories of all the things I did but most importantly of the people from all around the world whom I met. Thank you Habla Ya.Read More
