To all those who have auditioned and have not yet recieved verification of acceptance to the program, please don't be discouraged! As you know, we had a very busy audition season this year, especially with the addition of several international cities. The evaluation process is still in progress. You will be notified... by mid-March of your status if you have not recieved the information by now.

Boston Ballet Summer Dance Program
Hello everyone! Thank you for being patient in hearing back from us. As you know we just completed our 2009 Audition Tour and are busy processing all the information and applications. Thank you to all who auditioned, we were very pleased with the talent and look forward to seeing many of you in the program this year! ...We hope to answer most of your questions and if we do not directly answer them here, you can find the answers on our website.

In Boston Ballet's Summer Dance program, you can expect to dance five to six hours a day with scheduled breaks throughout. During these breaks, you can take extra classes in other levels. Partnering is offered for students at the Boston site. Boston SDP has 25 students per class and the Newton SDP has between 20 and 25. Also, Faculty and staff profiles are available to view on the SDP website.

Boston Ballet Summer Dance Program
Boston Ballet Summer Dance Program - Newton, located at the Boston Ballet Metrowest Studio, provides male and female students, ages 10 to 14, with five weeks of intensive, comprehensive ballet training. The daily curriculum includes 4-6 hours of classes in classical ballet technique, pointe, variations, separate men’s ...classes, and enrichment classes in modern, men’s conditioning, and Pilates. The average class size of 25, and the focus on wellness and mentoring, encourage personalized instruction in a nurturing environment.
Dance Life
The curriculum for SDP - Newton, based on 4-6 hours of dancing per day, includes:
A minimum of 3 hours daily of classical ballet technique, pointe, and variations classes
1 hour weekly of mentoring class
4-6 hours weekly of Pilates, modern and guest master classes
On-site physical therapy
Evening lecture/demonstrations with topics including nutrition, injury prevention, make-up, costumes, dance history, and performance presentation
Residential Life
A residential program providing room, board, dorm activities, weekend excursions, and daily transportation is available for all students between the ages of 11 and 14. Dormitory housing is secured by 24-hour campus security, proper identification, enforced curfews, and Boston Ballet's own professional live-in residential staff. Students are housed at Mount Ida College, a small private college campus in Newton, MA. A private shuttle service transports students between their dorms and the studios.

Summer Dance Program - Boston, located at Boston Ballet company headquarters, provides male and female students ages 15 through 19, with five weeks of intensive pre-professional training in classical ballet technique. The daily curriculum includes 5-6 hours of classes in classical ballet technique, pointe, variations, ...partnering, separate men's classes, and enrichment classes in character, jazz, modern, men's conditioning and Pilates. The average class size of 25 encourages personalized instruction and camaraderie.
Dance Life
The curriculum for Summer Dance Program-Boston is based on 5-6 hours of dancing daily and includes:
Separate men’s classes in technique, variations, and men’s conditioning
Enrichment classes in modern and classical character
Core conditioning classes in Pilates for dancers
Master classes with guest faculty
Interactive professional development lectures may include such topics as injury prevention, wellness and nutrition, dance history, stage production, music, make-up, and career preparation
On-site physical therapy
Residential Life
A residential program providing room, board, dorm activities, weekend excursions, and daily transportation is available to all students registered for SDP - Boston. Dormitory housing is secured by proper identification, 24-hour campus security, enforced curfews and Boston Ballet’s own professional live-in residential staff. Students are housed at Boston University, a large urban private University accessible to all of Boston. Students take the “T” (subway) and walk a short distance through the historic brownstone neighborhood of Boston’s South End to the Boston Ballet studios. A “buddy system” encourages safe travel to and from the studios.
