Community Music Center of Boston
Join nearly 400 musicians, students, families, supporters and members of the Greater Boston arts community for "Reach Out - 99 Years in the Neighborhoods", an all-ages musical celebration bringing together music from around the world and commemorating CMCB's 99th season of arts education.
Founded in 1910, Community Mu...sic Center of Boston (CMCB) is a nationally-recognized, accredited non-profit music school with a demonstrated commitment to providing excellent music instruction to children and adults of all ages and abilities, with particular emphasis on underserved populations, innovative community collaborations and lifelong learning. CMCB serves more than 5,500 children and adults each week and is the longest-running provider of arts education in the Boston Public Schools (BPS). CMCB has a rich, 100-year history of serving Boston's neighborhoods.
"Reach Out" will feature CMCB's all-ages Chamber Orchestra playing Beethoven's 8th Symphony, as well as the 1st movement of Mozart's A Major Piano Concerto featuring 8th grade CMCB student Henry Kwan, a student at Boston Latin School and winner of the 2009 Senior David Lapin Competition. Also performing will be CMCB's string and wind ensembles, intergenerational world music vocal groups, Arabic percussion/chanting and a traditional Chinese lion dance. A reception will follow.
Donations are suggested at $99 per person, and can be made at http://www.cmcb.org.
Proceeds will augment CMCB's scholarship fund in this challenging time.
