Bradford International Film Festival is building up to launch!

Bradford International Film Festival
The 15th Bradford International Film Festival showcases a multitude of vibrant cinema including premieres and previews, retrospectives, plus Uncharted States of America, our acclaimed showcase for new independent filmmakers from the USA, and CineFile, the documentary strand which records the world of movies and moviema...kers.
Bradford has been showing movies since the twilight of the 19th century. More than 100 years later the city's association with cinema continues to evolve, and Bradford International Film Festival remains at the very heart of it.
The Festival's reputation is growing. It is known in Cannes, Los Angeles and Toronto, Reykjavik, Tokyo and Warsaw. Bradford has become a byword for exciting, adventurous programming - a showcase for the new, the ground-breaking, the unusual and the obscure. Filmmakers are keen to submit their work on the basis that, if selected, it appears amidst a dazzling array of associated talent. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with basking in reflected glory.

Bradford International Film Festival
Mike Figgis is a risk-taker within an industry renowned for its formulaic approach. Keen to appropriate, distort and mangle new technology into a tool of creativity (as opposed to what it is ‘supposed’ to be used for) he produced this groundbreaking film in 1999.
A feature film shot entirely using four digital cameras ...in real time, featuring a host of acclaimed actors (Salma Hayek, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Stellan Skarsgard & Saffron Burrows) improvising within a predetermined structure over 93 minutes, the film is either mesmerising or perplexing. The ‘narrative’ offers at the same time a biting critique of Hollywood structures which is often savagely comic.
Figgis has always cultivated a highly developed musical sense and his interest in sound design, often neglected by film directors, is exhibited in his live mixes of Timecode which BIFF is delighted here to host. Naturally each ‘performance’ of the film is a unique event and demonstrates the immense power of the soundtrack in shaping audiences’ perception of film..
