Mr. Byrne: Your attendance at the Etowah County Republican Party's Annual Dinner on October 22, this year was greatly appreciated by my husband, Stan, and myself. We feel that is was an honor to meet you in person. We are most appreciative of the outstanding job you did as Chancellor of the Two-Year College System i...n Alabama. We need people of your integrity serving the state of Alabama; therefore, we are supporting you to be the next great govenor of Alabama.

Most folks are just tired of the political propaganda and "pork barrel" politics of the past. It is imperative here in Alabama to circumvent the control over education that the top AEA officials have achieved so that kindergarten age children through at least two-year college age adults can thrive in an atmosphere conducive to learning as opposed to AEA's poliical agenda continually dominating our schools. Quality education for the people of Alabama will in turn upgrade all facets of life for us. So many social problems could be eliminated. You can never invest too much in your people. Human resources are still the greatest of all. Motivation is healthy, and hard work does reap benefits.

I'm glad someone has finally made an issue out of reforming serious weaknesses in our state government.

Of all the states with an Ethics Comission (all but about 6,) Alabama is the only state whose Commission doesn't have subpoena power.

We Alabamans are tired of seeing our state near the bottom of the education lists. ...When our funds are taken to pay convicted criminals sitting in a federal prison, we can't pay for another one to take their place. We need Bradleys reforms to bring back sanity in our schools.

Alabama's constitution is the longest in the world, 3 times longer than India. Bradleys cautious approach of "article by article" reforms is backed by ALFA, and will prevent the three-ring circus proposed by Davis.

Get behind Byrne - he won't back down, he's proved it.

Mr. Byrne, I met you for the first time at the Morgan County reception for you in Decatur, which happened to be the same night of the Wildlife Cookout that you attended as well. I also recently heard you speak at the Ladies Republican Luncheon at Decatur Country Club, which I attended with my mother, Ana Franklin. I mus...t say that I am very impressed with you and your views. I believe that you would be a great asset to the State, and I think that your ideas of budgeting and reform are exactly the direction in which the State needs to go. I hope that when elected to office, you are able to change Alabama for the better-the same way that you did for our Two Year Education System. I there is anything I can do to assist, please let me know. Thank you, Erika FranklinRead More

There are too many public offices within our state that need to focus on their jobs and a big responsibility in ANY public job is to focus on their ethical duties to the public. This is currently not being done and without ethics we are in big trouble. It takes lots of effort and commitment to improve this area and the... current Governor has not been committed to improving these areas of reform. I hope that our future Governor can commit to this for the sake of Alabama. I have not heard too much from our current candidates for Governor on Ethics until I saw the November 3rd article. I will support the candidate who sees and understands how important ethics is to our society. I hope to see the next Governor whoever that may be do something about this.Read More

Jon Stephens

Jon Stephens Mr. Byrne. I would like to say that I come from a family of educators. I think that this state needs reform in all areas but mostly in economic development and education. I would like to point out Sumter county for example. Sumter county needs all the help and reform it can get, not to mention the public school system is in my opinion broken. In any case you have my support.

I volunteered to work your booth on Sunday at the Alabama Pecan Festival. I enjoyed hearing all of the nice compliments from those who stopped to talk to me. Many referred to the great job you did "cleaning up" Bishop State! Others lived near you and talked so highly of you and your family! Those comments just conf...irmed that I have chosen the right candidate to fully support! I am looking forward to representing you again soon at the next function! As one gentleman put it, "We need a man who is a statesman and not a politician! He said the difference between a "statesman" and a "politician" is that the politician is for himself and the "statesman" is for the people. You are a true "stateman"! :-)Read More

Hello Mr. Byrne. I am a registered Republican and feel that I have had to vote "the lesser of two evils" for some time now. I am very hopeful that we will be able to find a TRUE Conservative with real conservative values to run for governor of Alabama. I am trying to learn all I can about each candidate whether Republi...can, Democrat, Independent or other. I do like your platform and what you have to say so far. It will go beyond this for me. I want to see action not just the "Right" words. I will take my vote very serious and be there to watch to see if the candidate I vote for does the same. I have seen where you were confirmed for the Tea Party in Birmingham on tomorrow and then cancelled on November 6th. Is this accurate and if so we would like to hear why you will not be able to attend. This movement is VERY important to people of this country and especially the people of Alabama. I will be watching to see which candidates show up or not.Read More

Sir, as a Veteran of the Armed Forces. I was appauled at the image I came back to my hometown after serving two tours overseas, both in Operation Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. All the things I have said about my state to my fellow man, my brothers in arms against the war on terror, were of the highest standards I have ...ever said about this wonderful state. I have lived here my whole life and I have to agree with you, Sir. This state needs to end the corruption. No more politics. This state was built on "Good old southern hospitality" that most states don't have. Like Mr. Ed Henson stated below, "We need an honest man who is a public servant and not a politician." Mr. Byrne, I know it doesn't stop with just a governor, it is about what the people can do to make this a better state. Like the saying, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."Read More
