It's more like an epic, two-day struggle between titans, where honor, glory and riches drive competitors, and spectators, to the limit. But when the Breeders' Cup World Cham...pionships was started back in 1984, it was with the humble goal of bringing the horseracing industry together for one last season-ending event. A kind of "end-of-the-year extravaganza" to wrap up the year. All these years later, it has become the pinnacle of the sport, drawing the best equine athletes from around the world for two of the most exciting days in racing; and establishing itself as a deciding factor in Eclipse Award voting, which honors Horse of the Year.
