I am very pleased to present my first attempt at 3D work at Next Gallery located on 37th and Navajo in Denver, Colorado on Friday, July 24th.
This bronze piece began 6 months ago and the journey has been fascinating... the process is in such opposition to the immediate, almost frantic pace of my painting.
I have named ...the piece 47 Uma c after an undefined and indistinct planet suspected to live around Ursa Major.
This show is titled Evolve because I will be hanging my black and white paintings as well, which are another attempt at cultivating expansion. The paintings are a departure from my typically bright, colorful work. Evolution can happen from either addition or subtraction, in the case of the paintings, taking away my favorite toy--color, and for the sculpture, adding another element--the third dimension. I have enjoyed and learned from each of these processes.
This will be my last show at Next as I have decided to move on, so please join me in celebration of Next's beautiful space and my first sculpture ever!
