LEGO Yoshi & Luigi closeup ( exclusive picture ).
This update concludes the Yoshi saga, some more trivia : Yoshi weighs a whopping 18.9 kg ( 40 pounds ) and is comprised of roughly 16,000 bricks.

DAY 7 : completed Yoshi, and very happy how he turned out ! Yoshi stands 80 cm tall, 70 cm from tail to nose, 40 cm wide.

Brick Projects DAY 6 : still building the nose which is obviously a lot bigger than the nose of the Mario I've built, getting close to where the eyes will emerge ( lvl 67 ). Just one more day to complete Yoshi, a long final day ahead.
Brick Projects DAY 4 : Arms are finished ( lvl 38 ), I just started sculpting Yoshi's red turtle shell, which doubles as a saddle for Mario Bros in most Nintendo games.
Brick Projects DAY 3 : built a couple of simple LEGO scaffolds to support Yoshi's fists, which will be filled to the brim with bricks ( lvl 29 ). As a consequence and due to more complex forms, progress is slower.
Brick Projects DAY 2 : building Yoshi's tummy and tail ( lvl 22 ), alternating green and white bricks, typical color scheme for most reptiles.
Brick Projects DAY 1 : I've almost finished the shoes in flashy orange ( lvl 11 ) and i'm building at least 4 studs wide using common LEGO colors for the unexposed inner parts.

DAY 0 : The LEGO Yoshi sculpture is pushing my boundaries once more.
Because of its gravity defying nature ( think classic T-Rex pose ) I was considering working with lead counterweights in his duck-like tail.
At second sight this would make Yoshi cumbersome and uneasy to handle, not to mention the nasty balance exercise... while building.
Recollecting the basic principles of physics - an object will topple once its plumb line falls outside of its base of support - and setting aside my purist LEGO convictions ( do not alter LEGO pieces ) I decided to go for a bold new approach.
To prevent Yoshi from falling flat on his face I decided to expand the base of support by crafting a plastic disc ( 25cm radius ). Next I cut up a large 48x48 studs LEGO base plate to match the contours of Yoshi's foot soles and glued them onto the plastic base of support.

Tijdens Lego World kun je levensgrote bouwwerken bekijken en je kan er zelf met Lego bouwen.Een van deattracties dit jaar is de reusachtige Super Mario van Lego. Mario is 1,8 meter hoog en bestaat uit 30.000 steentjes. De organisatie wil hiermee in het Guinness Recordboek komen.
