Do something different in the middle of the night.

Let fate be your fortune as you take a tour of the unexpected at Brighton’s second White Night Festival on Saturday 24 October. This year the all night cultural festival invites you to partake of some much-needed fortune, so join us in a magical evening where things are... not always quite as they seem…

Behind venue doors and outside among our historical streets and squares lies a series of real and virtual trails and installations, so join us on an evening of fortuitous fun. Most of the events are free and some run until dawn so take advantage of the end of British Summer Time and spin the wheel of chance for an extra hour.

Do you want to get involved in local democracy or make a difference to your local community?

If so, come along to our Get Involved Day at Hove Town Hall on Saturday 21 November. We’ll be devoting the whole day to showing you how you can be involved with local decision-making in the council, health and emergency service...s. If you want to help other people in your neighbourhood or want to change something in your area, you’ll be able to speak to Brighton & Hove community and voluntary sector organisations too.

And after the event there’ll be plenty more ways to Get Involved. We’ll be setting up online forums where you’ll be able to have your say and running community events over the coming months. All this is part of our nine-month drive to get residents involved in local democracy and community activities.

Get Involved Day is held in partnership with Sussex Police, NHS Brighton & Hove, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service and various other community and voluntary sector organisations.

What's on?

A wide range of activities are planned for the day. There’ll be:

information stalls to showcase the range of services, organisations and activities available in the city
video screenings from the Have Your Say campervan. This will travel around the city in the run up to the event to get residents’ views on the issues affecting Brighton & Hove
a Question Time chaired by newsreader Nicholas Owen. This will give you the chance to question a panel of councillors and partners
the opportunity for young people to speed meet your local councillor
workshops and free training on many aspects of getting involved, including becoming a councillor, learning how to debate and using social media
Got a question about local decision making?

Have your say at Question Time! We are giving you the opportunity to ask questions of a panel of councillors and representatives from the police and health services on Get Involved Day.

Submit your question for the day at http://www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/index.cfm?request=c1213076
