Did anyone catch the name or title of the book that Mary Gaitskill recommended? I heard Pamuk, but there was a second author (I think a Japanese woman?) she mentioned, and now I can't read what I wrote down... Please send me a note if you can help.

guess i'll have to check out a map cuz i don't know which street is which. me, i don't mind walking several blocks, but the friend i wil be with isn't able to walk nearly that far. so if something is like 2blocks away we might be able to make it.
i'm freezing water bottles and have to figure something i can pack to eat...sometimes i just want something more than a peanut butter sandwich;)

ok, 1 block is on the same intersection st, Montague St is Mexican Chiqulte Grill, Natori (Japanese) up a few steps, downstairs Lichee Nut (chinese) a few more steps is Monty's (italian) all are sit down and not far. If you want to go cheap and healthy go for Garden of Eden at the end of the deli counter is hot meal/meat and 2 sides from $5.99-8.... See More99 a full meal that you may want to share and p/u a dessert. this is a market so no seating. i buy a 1/2 chicken & 2 sides for $5.99 and that's 2 lunches for me. Garden's drinks are expensive so get something to drink from Duane Reade or Rite Aid which are all close by. On Court St One Way Deli have lunch specials that's posted on their door but no seating. that's the closest bargains.
