Bucks-Mont Astronomical Association Go to bed early Tuesday night, wake up extra early Wednesday morning go out and see if you can catch a few meteors streaking from the constellation Orion. http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2009/19oct_orionids.htm?list1306283 This meteor shower is from the dust tail of the famous Halley's Comet. So even if you missed H...alley's in 1986, you can still see the results of this short period comet's debris field that we plow into every year about this same time. There could be up to 60 meteors per hour from this debris stream.

"Earth is passing through a stream of debris from Halley's Comet, the source of the Orionids," says Bill Cooke of NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office. "Flakes of comet dust hitting the atmosphere should give us dozens of meteors per hour."

Yes, I think the dawns early light will wash it our for us. Also, I think they said 10"+ on the scope size as a starting point. Here was an interesting chart NASA put out regarding the event size in relation to various scope and eyepiece configurations - http://www.nasa.gov/pdf/386933main_Scope_views.pdf
We'll have to keep out eyes out for a live video feed from someone out west.
