Budget Special from EngageVoter ‘Nothing holy about them’

You must have bumped into a newly-constructed roadside Masjid or Mandir on way to your favourite shopping place. These structures are everywhere, often delaying the development works in that area. Not any more. The Supreme Court has ruled that while existing structures may remain, the governmen...t must prevent such encroachment in the future. Good step?

True guys! We are already facing messy traffic and congested bylanes/service lanes/main roads...you name it. These structures only add to the woes of a common man...Let's have them in a serene place where we can pray in tranquility...not in the presence of continuous honking and air pollution!

Budget Special from EngageVoter Two years for mowing down six lives?
The Delhi High Court has reduced the jail term of Sanjeev Nanda from five years to two for running over six people in his BMW car terming it a case of negligence. Do you think our judiciary has failed this time? Wasn't this the case of culpable homicide?

The rupee buys the justice : the insurance company hires an actuarial specialist to determine the personal worth of those who were killed. Nnanda insurance pays up & Nanda does some jail time w/privileges no doubt. There is little sentiment from that objective viewpoint..if a jury had been involved and some sentiment for the 6, the poignancy (or ... See Morenot) of their lives was gained by the defendent, tables would have turned and more penalty levied. The objectivity of justice always leans towards the greater stack of rupees, unless a jury is there to keep watch.

Hope Mr Kapil Sibal is listening to this! He wants foreign education to be introduced but what about millions of teachers across the country who're being paid peanuts! You know that most of the teachers in Uttar Pradesh don't go to schools as they work somewhere else to make more money and send some graduate from the village to teach in their names!
