Buffalo Bills Review

Here's the story of the Buffalo Bills Review...

In the late summer of 2005, Apple announced that podcasts would be integrated into iTunes. They also made sure to mention how easy it would be to produce one. When I got the new software, I looked around their podcast directory, searching for my favorite subjects. Found some good shows, but not a one on the Buffalo Bills. I checked a few places and found nothing.

"Maybe I could do a Bills show..." I thought, and I immediately thought of a format, and some guys who would be great for a Bills discussion. I knew web design, so I could handle that part. Being a traveling musician, I had the audio equipment. Finally, the two other characters I had in mind for co-hosts thought it sounded like a good idea as well. And in August of 2005, the Buffalo Bills Review had it's humble beginning.

As I, Greg - the Big Bills Fan, and my brother-in-law, Josh Bowers, and a good friend from high school, Dave Drake, just bantered about the previous week's game, and some thoughts about the next one, and the occasional other Bills-related items... people began sending us e-mails, Skype messages, and other comments about how they really liked the show! It seemed there were more Bills fans than just me out there looking for a fan-generated Bills show. And, it seemed we were providing that.

Being a Bills fan from the Super Bowl era, I really wanted to track down some of those players and see if they'd do interviews with us. A "Where are they now" sort of thing. Well, thanks to the brilliance of Google, I found Don Beebe. I emailed him and he agreed to join us for an interview. We were new at this, so there were some MAJOR technical embarassments, but he was gracious, and a fantastic interview! Please check it out if you haven't already.

Darryl Talley and Frank Reich followed that season. Steve Tasker appeared on the Buffalo Bills Review in 2006. Hopefully many more will follow.

The Buffalo Bills Review is really a show by Bills fans, and for Bills fans. We don't pretend to be "unbiased" or "objective" media (though we know that is not the case, anyway...) we are Bills fans to the core. We love our Bills, and the folks who listen to the show do as well. We try to give everyone who wants it a voice on the show, whether by e-mail or by audio message or otherwise. That will hopefully always be true of BBR.

Heading into the future there may be changes. With the Bills, and with the show. But one thing is for sure. As long as the Buffalo Bills Review is on the web, it will be the voice of Bills fans. Win or lose...

HOST BIOS
Greg Campbell
Greg is a husband, father of five great kids, and a web designer by trade. Greg & his wife Jen spent years traveling the country performing their music at coffee houses, colleges, churches, and several other venues. In addition to their music, Greg has published three books, which are available through his blog site, GregsHead.net. A Bills fan since 1988 when he attended the 9-6 OT thriller over the Jets that gave the Bills the AFC East championship. Prior to that season, Greg had never even seen any football. Thanks to some good friends who shared their season tickets, Greg is now a BIG BILLS FAN!

Dave Drake
Dave Drake was born a Bills fan, and is the unofficial chicken wing eating champion of Williamsville. Dave requires by man law that his wife Marie and two daughters wear bills gear on Sunday afternoons during the football season. Dave's favorite Bills football moment(s) is whenever Dan Marino would be sacked (or throw an INT). Dave's life long dream is to own the Bills, so far he has saved $10.75 (he is hoping Mr. President will be around for a few more years).

Dre Smith
Dre Smith was born a poor white man in Buffalo, NY. He was born and raised to be a Bills fan. His first words were, "pass the chicken wings...." Dre's favorite player on the Bills is anyone who can score a TD.

Dre lives in the Wilmington, Delaware and has to endure the Philadelphia Eagles. Dre is married, and has a son who love the Bills Review!

John Dupra
John was born in Rochester, NY on October 7th 1983. Although this is unconfirmed, it is rumored that his first word was "Go-Bills" (although he pronounced it "ma-ma" there is little doubt amongst leading "John scholars" what he meant).

As John was growing up, he recounted the worst day of his life was January 27, 1991. Scott Norwood missed wide right, the Bills lost the Superbowl and the pizza his family ordered from Pizza Hut (despite many calls and inquiries to its location) was never delivered (and if any one in a position of power at Pizza Hut is reading this, he will make it his goal to bash your company publicly until he gets that Pizza, which he also feels he shouldn't have to pay for. Please contact him when you are ready to make your apology), shattering the already fragile psyche of the seven-year-old.

John went to college at SUNY Fredonia, home of the former Bills training camp, until it was moved to St. John Fisher as the team would like to train at a college people have heard of. John graduated with a degree in communication and is currently working in sales/marketing for international corporate giant Saint-Gobain. He is currently single and lives in a small town near Albany, New York. As he is writing this it has occurred to him that he has not eaten yet today and must go tend to that. Go Bills.

Josh Bowers (former co-host)
Josh (Uncle Josh) works for Uncle Sam and is currently withholding funding to the FBI until they resume their manhunt for the smoking man, so that Josh can interrogate him into recanting his control over the Buffalo Bills. Josh leaps for joy every-time Rian Lindell makes a FG and firmly believes that if Lindell had been on the team instead of Scott Norwood we would have at least one Super Bowl ring. Josh and his wife Tara are raising three girls and one boy to be big Bills fans! (read less)
