Students who want the best of both worlds – comprehensive business knowledge AND the softer skills recruiters are looking for—can take advantage of the Liberal Studies Major offered at Bentley University. The LSM is an interdisciplinary optional second major that allows students to combine their business courses with liberal studies classes that explore themes that cut across many disciplines of the arts and sciences, such as ethics and social responsibility, global perspectives, media arts and society, and issues related to the environment. The goal of the LSM is to help students sharpen their competitive edge by demonstrating their ability to think analytically, critically, and creatively. Adding to Francesca’s story… Business Courses for Go-Getters… another example of a course that offers marketable skills is one here at Bentley University that actually brings employers into the classroom. GB112: Tools & Concepts in Accounting and Finance includes visits from Ernst & Young executives who co-lead discussions and critique student presentations. Students go through the process of starting a business and apply the accounting and finance tools involved in that process.
