C70 At The Bat The Nats Blog looking at all the NL Central teams in relation to the winter meetings.

Each year GM's from across the league come together and meet in one place and talk hardcore baseball, these are the Winter Meetings. It's the Black Friday of baseballs shopping season, and the springboard ...

C70 At The Bat The winter meetings start today, and apparently the Cards think they'll do something during them. Looking forward to seeing what it is!

C70 At The Bat I see that McGwire could be talking to the press between the winter meetings and Christmas. Hopefully it'll happen and we can get on to other things.

C70 At The Bat I don't know about you, but I'm ready for the Mark McGwire press conference. That could really set the tone for how next season is going to go, at least off-the-field.

C70 At The Bat is pretty excited that Bill DeWitt III will be on a special United Cardinal Bloggers Radio Hour on Monday!

C70 At The Bat Albert Pujols had surgery. Surprisingly, it wasn't his back after carrying this team the first half of last year.

C70 At The Bat Wow, winter got here in a hurry. I'll probably watch bits and pieces of the rest of the playoffs, but it's still hard to grasp there's no Cardinal baseball to talk about and probably no rumors, etc. for a few weeks either.

C70 At The Bat Cards are in the biggest of holes right now. They've been there before, at least 0-2 to LA. Time for some more "Go Crazy?"

C70 At The Bat Heck of a game tonight. Congrats to the Twins for taking it in such dramatic fashion. It's going to be a tough offseason for the Tigers.

C70 At The Bat Hope to get a quick blog up tomorrow, but I'm out of pocket this week. Don't worry, I'll get those final Heroes and Goats recorded!

C70 At The Bat will have to look and see how it's happened in the past, but losing 5 of 6 to Cincy and Milwaukee is not the most auspicious way to go into the postseason. Hopefully Albert uses two days to get his swing right, since it'll be almost a month since his last HR when the LDS starts.

I hotta be honest; unless TLR is willing to let Carp and Wionwright go 8 or 9, I don't like their chances. The offense is stagnant, at best, and the bullpen is starting to remind me of '07. The good news is that the Dodgers aren't playing much better. The bad news; they're playing better.

We're going to have to see if they can just get hot for two weeks, kinda like the '06 club did. Otherwise, it's not a good outlook.

C70 At The Bat Really can't believe the Cards blew Wainwright's 20th. And not only blew it, but blew it up, gathered up the pieces, and blew it up again. This might be a short October.

He should be, though he will say all the right things about it's worse that the team loss. But don't expect him and McClellan to go out to dinner tonight.

Stinks! Was really wanting to see Waino and 20W by his name! Hope they play better in the playoffs.

C70 At The Bat Congrats to the NL Central Champions. And I find their strategy of saving key hits for the postseason instead of wasting them on regular season frivolity fascinating.
