We may need a new strategy in dealing with these questions. Yet, Muslims in the West are a minority which makes it difficult to be openly self-critical. We have done a good job defending ourselves against false accusations, however it appears that the time has come for learning how to deal with legitimate issues when raised.

The use of the term "Haji" within the military is probably the most common form of harassment in the military. It has been used indiscriminately to describe any thing or person connected to Muslims. CAIR has worked to educate senior military leaders about the term and how, when used pejoratively or ...

Muslim minorities are easy scapegoats in a society that is awash with it's own problems of domestic violence, gun culture, drug abuse, religious fanaticism, lack of social cohesion, absentee parents, gang culture in schools, bad life choices the list can go on. These are symptoms of a larger problem where minorities are explained away as an aberration. It's time to point the finger at the blindness and inertia of the nations civic bodies, the journalists, teachers, churches.

There is, however, another issue that has become prevalent: intentional citizenship delays. These affect people who are in America entirely legally, who live and work and raise their families here. The justification for these delays, sometimes as long as six or seven years, is that the mandatory bac...

Thank you, I appreciate you saying that. :)

Sadly here in this area, racism can still be a pretty large issue. Though I will say it has become substantially worse or just more open as of the past few years, making me wonder if we have really moved at all from the days of Martin Luther King Jr.

I agree with you entirely, in 2009 this should no longer be an issue. More so in a country made up entirely of immigrants who come from all around the world with hopes of a better life. But for some reason the bigots are allowed to spread their venom despite the obvious fallacies in their own logic. ... Read More

My view has always been that the deeds of a person speak louder than anything else. And the only true way for people to beat the forces of bigotry and racism is to achieve, become doctors and CEO's and government officials. Eventually we will be able to drowned out the voices of the past, so long as we keep our heads and those of our children facing towards the future.

Until then, we'll just have to keep fighting for equality.

Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the Washington, D.C.-based Muslim civil rights group, on Saturday said Anani paints all Muslims with an extremist brush, which is damaging. “It’s a very corrosive mentality,” Hooper said. “If you want to know about Islam, ask a Muslim.”

From everything I have ever learned about Islam, the traditional dress women wear is a matter of pride as well as faith. No one should judge another based on how they look, it is how they act that is important.

In my view, it is no different than a Christian wearing a crucifix or a Catholic wearing their rosary.

Jim thx for that valuable information!it is the biased media who is targetting islam and muslims in general the first thing they showed about that major is him wearing what they call an arab gown !!!plus they kept saying he is a devout muslim !what morons really!!!what does the two have to do with his crimes?if they don't stop we will call the jews... Read More jews and christians christians when they commit their crimes..I also have the right to know what religion other criminals have..this is discrimination against muslims and arabs americans, we were quiet for sooo long but enough is enough!why they did' nt say about that traitor who was arrested stealing info and transfer it to israel that he is a jew..and showed him with his jewish gown ?although his crime is horrible!!cnn was shy to talk about him and the even did nt mention spying they called it sharing!!!like if he was sharing a picture in face book !we are sick and tired of double standard !

An intoxicated man shoots 13 people dead. That's incredible. How does one get to shoot so many sure-fired shots in an army base being fatally shot at? No footage of the crime? Other than villifying Muslims, conscientious objectors, and detractoin from surge what other social engineering did this Hollywood script aim at?
