More than a decade after voters approved a constitutional amendment imposing a "paramount duty" on the state to provide a high-quality education to all Florida students, Florida's schools are still failing our children.

CIVIC Concern The battle for better schools moves from the statehouse to the courthouse! A coalition of parents and citizen groups filed suit today asking a court to declare the state has failed to meet its constitutional obligation to provide high quality schools. It's a shame we have to go to court to get the Legislature to upho...ld their duty to Florida's kids. Visit CIVIC's website to learn more and to sign up and show your support!

If we fail to educate our children our nation is going to fail. Our children spend less time in school than any other developed nation. My children have no textbooks to bring home to study! There are no aids in the classrooms in the lower grades!

Peter Staley I believe that either the current governor - or the next one - should change the nickname of our state, from The Sunshine State to THE SOLAR STATE. This simple, low-cost/no-cost act will focus all of us on the fact that we need to generate much more of our energy needs from the sun (which is with us every day).
