
CONNECT - Safe Families, Peaceful Communities This is a four-day intensive course on the fundamentals of domestic violence. A prerequisite for all other CTI courses, it emphasizes the intersections between violence and the many health and social justice issues affecting New York City's communities. Topics include types of abuse and trauma, impacts on women and chi...ldren, why men batter and abuse, safety planning, HIV and substance abuse, culture and immigration, issues for the LGBTQ communities, and the navigation of social service and legal systems. Participants who have completed a previous cycle of Understanding Domestic Violence or DV101 are not required to take this class before registering for other CTI courses.

On Tuesday, November 17, the City Council will hold a hearing on a paid sick time bill introduced by Council Member Gale Brewer which will make it possible for virtually every worker in New York City to take time off from work, for illness or taking care of sick family members or to address domestic violence, without b...eing penalized. We want to make sure everyone knows that paid sick time is a women's issue!
