On Wednesday, April 29, at the Clarendon Grill in Arlington, there will be hosting a fabulous show featuring music, poetry, and artwork to raise money for the charitable organization Art for Humanity (AfH). This organization, whose roots are in Honduras, is impressive in so many ways. It works to: slow illegal immigr...ation to the U.S. from within Latin America, increase the number of rural home-based businesses, provide a number of children with an education, and foster open-ended communication between the worlds of the haves and have-nots. (A note to government employees: AfH participates in the CFC.) You can read more about AfH on www.artforhumanity.org - updated photos of hundreds of paintings available for sale will be posted soon. We will be asking for (though not requiring) a $10 donation at the event.
Our performers for the show all have incredible talent and a huge following. Singer-songwriter Danni Rosner will be joining us. Poet/ performance artist Will Richey will be coming in from Texas; his portfolio includes television appearances, teaching creative writing, and winning poetic competitions. Kuku is a singer-songwriter originally from Nigeria; his sound is a rich fusion of vocals and Africa-meets-America on the guitar. Flo Anito is a musician with a fan base between DC and New York; her sound is alive, fresh, and fun. Finally, CPBlues is a blues band who has been on the local scene for more than ten years. The performers will be selling their cds at the event. Read More
