good point, Lawarun!!!!! esp hiyo yake na E-sir (RIP).
i beg to disagree with th use of Nameless too.
but on another note, the use of celebrities is kinda tricky....(Tiger woods is still fresh in th mind!)
my take would be for them to use institutions rather than individuals. question: do we have such credible institutions?

CSR Africa The motherhood penalty! How true is the observation that mothers looking for employment are less likely to be hired, are offered lower salaries and are perceived as being less committed to a job than fathers or women without children? Is gender inequality a reality in businesses across Africa?

mothers with kids are less committed to their jobs,God forbid i get a tongue lashing for speaking it out.60percent of the working year is spent in home emergencies and personal stuff lyk the proverbial 'im sick' connotation,it is they that give excuses wen needed at work after hours, cant be countd on to cover u in an emergenc y,come late to work ... See Moreand leave early and blame everyone for the sudden drop in performance coz they dont have too many responsibilities as them. whatever is happening doesnt happen for nothing, women hav been using inequality as an excuse for ages and yet its obvious that their workgrades are slipping.Dont make out bosses and men to be evil. If u cant deal with it,stay at home and raise the kids. Noone cooks two pots simultaneously and gets perfect results.

though wishing their was more macho will to allow equal opportunity to females at the work place, I still think mothers with young kids ought not work in jobs and positions that require tremendous amount of time and concentration as many of the good jobs demand. They should however receive child-rearing allowances and given more of lesser time dependent jobs. However, this constitute a small percentage of jobs. Most jobs are just too demanding for them to perform optimally.

CSR Africa Working for non-profits, the NGOs?What is your experience? Is it a sector filled by people who like to be "nice" to one another. After all, those who work there are trying to cure poverty, solve the education crisis, improve the environment, or serve disadvantaged kids. Does the NGO working culture acommodate candid performance feedback?

Each organisation, whether govt, civil society, private, name it-has an agenda! Most times the agenda is selfish. NGOs r run by human beings like any other hence not infallible. What we need to ask each other regardless of which sector we work:are we corrupt? If no is it because an opportunity is yet to present itself? Let he who is without sin cast the first stone, blessings y'all!

Out of all the above only Joan got the point - its about the inter-relations that are created within the NGO's as entities and not between the entities themselves. I say like a mortal that all that is mend can be amended and not corrupt can be corrupt too. The most important bit is working yourself out of it and creating a condusive enviroment at work place withing NGO's.

CSR Africa How to feed Africa? Is it the large scale agricultural farms with their automated operations, large scale economies and increased productivity or small scale subsistence farming with their exposure to climate change & poor financing? What is your say with the expected rise of food prices & demand?

Currently a large of food production is done by small scale farmers. Most of what is done in large scale is exported. The best way forward is provision of equipment and materials. Futher, we should conserve resources we have. There was a feature recently on TV showing how a semi-arid area here in Africa has managed to conserve water and feed a large number of people.

First of all, I do not beleive our problems have anything to do with global warming thing. Israel and Egypt gets less than a third of our rainfall, their soil is half less fertile than ours, but they are able to manage feeding their p`ple and exporting lots from tha little water they get from river nile which amazingly comes from L.victoria. We simply lack planning.

Being able to achieve what I have set and having people to support whatever decision no matter how difficult it may be. Again doing something that is fulfilling. Of ultimate importance is support from all corners.

I would say defining their own life's values and living by them; confidence;constant growth/self improvement; reaching out to others; and most important seeking God's will and direction can be a good recipe for a measure of success and happiness for women...and anyone else for that matter :)
