As of February 2008, Sarah Galashan is the Whistler Bureau Chief for CTV British Columbia.
It's her job to give Canadians a front row seat leading up to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, covering everything from preparations to competitions. Stories that both inspire and frustrate, as the whistler/blackcomb resort and area get ready to welcome the world.
Prior to this, Galashan spent three years as Alberta Bureau Chief for CTV National News, covering all things of interest to the region. From the New York Stock Exchange where there is interest in Alberta oil, to the tar sands in Fort McMurray for a first hand look.
In the spring of 2006 she spent six weeks embedded with the Edmonton troops based in Kandahar, Afghanistan. She reported live from Mayerthorpe the night four young RCMP officers were gunned down on a rural property, has traveled to Billings, Montana to interview ranchers who fought to close the border to Canadian beef, and filed from Esterhazy, Saskatchewan the weekend 72 miners were caught more than a kilometer underground by a fire.
In the spring of 2005 Galashan got the chance to interview the children of Canada's only polygamy colony in Bountiful, and she played a central role covering the 2003 summer fires that ravaged parts of the province of BC.
She has reported for W Five, and has regularly appeared on CTV's network broadcast specials. Before joining the network she reported for BCTV News on Global, The Vancouver Sun, The Hamilton Spectator and The National Post.
Originally from Ontario, Galashan moved west to attend University of British Columbia, where she graduated with a degree in Canadian Studies.
