| Biography: | Cadenza Strings was founded in 2004 by violinist Brenna Hardy-Kavanagh and cellist Sonya Matoussova. Though originally a quartet, the group soon expanded to offer duos, trios, and soloists. The musicians of Cadenza Strings are known throughout the Ottawa and Montreal areas for their talent, dedication, and high standard of playing, and have been finalists in the Canadian Music Competition and the Kiwanis Music Festival. The Alaya String Quartet (formerly known as the Cadenza String Quartet) was founded in 2004 by Cadenza Strings musicians Brenna Hardy-Kavanagh and Sonya Matoussova. Known throughout the Ottawa and Montreal areas, the quartet performs frequent concerts and participates in regional competitions.

Violinist Brenna Hardy-Kavanagh and cellist Sonya Matoussova have enjoyed playing chamber music together since their first meeting in 2002. In 2007, they received a full scholarship to attend the Tiberius International Chamber Music Festival.
