LOCAL businesses are now jumping
on board our joint campaign to help
repair the roof of St. Andrew’s Church.
The latest company to back the Sign a
Slate appeal is Rugby-based lettings
agent Cadman Homes.
The company, based in Church Street,
has generously decided that for every
instruction the firm receives, it will
donate £10 ...to buy two slates for the
appeal.
Valerie Cadman-Jones, the proprietor
of the business, said: “It’s a fantastic
appeal and we want to help make it a success.
“My partner Adam heard about the
appeal and we thought it would be a good
idea to jump on board.
“We want to give something back to
the town that we serve and the church
roof appeal is a deserving and worthy
campaign to support.”
Matthew Cadman-Jones, Valerie’s son
and business partner, added: “Estate
agents have a less than perfect reputation
as an industry and we constantly want to
reverse that opinion.
“Our customers do say that they enjoy
dealing with us. For me that’s the biggest
compliment we could hope for.”
The appeal has been running for over
one month and already over £1,000 has
been raised to help replace tiles on part
of the building’s roof.
You can buy a slate - each one costs £5
- and the church needs 5,250 slates for
the nave, south porch and organ chamber
roofs at a cost for slates alone of
£26,250.
St. Andrew’s is also organising its own
fundraising events and has already
secured grants to fund the work.
