Calgary Cowbell Yesterday's most ridiculous comments on global warming by Albertans. And this was just what was in the press

calgarycowbell.com
In today’sCalgary HeraldJim Prentice said he is bringing “absolutely top-drawer, remarkable Canadians” to Copenhagen with him. The list includes the remarkable TV handyman Mike Holmes. WTF is hedoing there and why is he remarkable? I have no idea. ...

Calgary Cowbell Political zombies descend on Copenhagen. Beware, they are looking to bite you!

www.calgarycowbell.com
What is a political zombie? By day they work hard for their corporate and rich donors to ensure that things stay the same while pretending to fight for change in a political system that encourages gridlock. ...

Calgary Cowbell Seattle 1999, I Was There. By Nicolas Totino. "An event directed by no one, the power of which surprised everyone"

What can I say? Everything just sort of came together by word of mouth, such that I found myself arriving in Seattle with a group from the U of C, having driven non-stop together in a rented van. That ...

Calgary Cowbell Rating Calgary's downtown bike lanes. Find out which ones suck and which ones are pretty good

calgarycowbell.com
Incredibly there are over 7,000 kilometres of paved roads in Calgary. Out of all of this there are only 12 kilometres of bike lanes. Though at least there are some bike lanes, clearly this is unacceptable.

The one along 5th Ave NW from Crowchild to 10th Street is brand spankin' new and looking great. Bogotá is another city setting a great example, not only with it's weekly Sunday Ciclovía route but bike lanes throughout the city much like you describe in Montreal. http://www.streetfilms.org/ciclovia/

Calgary Cowbell Alderman Joe Connelly's delusionary cowboy ethics

calgarycowbell.com
On Joe Connelly’swebsite he says he lives by James Owen’s Cowboy Ethics. These ‘moral guideposts’ allow people like Joe to wrap themselves in make believe. More dangerously, these ethics allow us to reconstruct values that justify the past and ensure that the future remains the same. ...

"Some things aren't for sale", chimes the Cowboy ethos. Yeah, only MOST things are for sale with Joe, like his City Council votes.

Calgary Cowbell Chinook C-Train station sucks, especially when compared to others found around the world

www.calgarycowbell.com
I was at the Chinook C-Train station last Friday night on my way to a Halloween party and it felt like I was in a war zone or in an American inner city ghetto. Standing on the C-Train platform all I could see was concrete. ...

At Chinook station, the disabled and elderly, are forced to purchase their tickets outside - in the winter - it can be brutal....I hope there is a more humane and compassionate way of handling this station. The loud bird calls (obnoxious) that you hear at this station, you would not get away with near city hall....as the public would not tolerate ... See Moreit. Also - who got paid for the metal spikes to deter birds from sitting....incredible waste of tax payers dollars - so too, the advertising on the buses - which, if you were a person of color - much of the messaging is very blatant - and I do not find it acceptable, nor humorous. I wish to be a positive contributor, however - the ghettoing of our communities through city planning - with some areas getting preferential treatment - is a most disturbing trend. Turn it around, please.

Calgary Cowbell O Gandhi, Where Art Thou? Have the poverty and environmental movements lost their way?

Despite all the money poured into the poverty and environmental movements, little seems to be changing for the better. These sectors have lost their way. Now more than ever the world needs more Gandhi. We need to start asking ourselves what would Gandhi do?

Calgary Cowbell What happens when words like love, sustainability, and fiscally conservative become meaningless?

calgarycowbell.com
What happens when words like love, sustainability, and fiscally conservative become meaningless? Corporations and governments are creating a world where words don’t mean anything. Words, even ones meaning the complete opposite, are becoming interchangeable. Welcome to 1984. Let the amnesia begin.

people react to brand names, even in politics, in either a positive way...voting for them, or in a negative, by assailing them.
whether there is any validity to these connectives they submit willingly to them by virtue of blind loyalty, the gullibility of self that seeks direction via media assaults on certain brand names as well as shameless ... See Morepromotions of other ones.
all too often these assaults and promotions are laden with lies and deceptions and yes, words and descriptives rendered both meaningless as well as extremely hypocritical. as an example, when the 'conservatives' of harper attacked the liberals for the various sins committed by them, it was seen to be that there was a new political order awaiting in the wings. the reality though was that these very characters were busily doing the very same things, and even moreso once they came into power....thus making them a far worse political entity than the previous; its one thing to engage in such chicanery, but something entirely different-and worse-to rail against it all and then to commit the same sins when able to.

when given the opportunity to do so.
but the real tragedy here isn't that they are committing such acts of malice and immorality, but that they continue to be supported by those who voted them in, many of them on the strength of presenting themselves as being pure, different than the 'corrupt' *left-libs* of the previous administration...

such hypocrisy-from the top down, and from the bottom up....
