California Health Advocates Here's an update on the health-care reform bill House Speaker Nancy Pelosion is presenting today. It includes a government insurance option and a historic expansion of Medicaid, and is expected to cost about $900 billion over 10 years, down from the original estimate of $1.04 trillion. The bill will in part be funded by surcharges on wealthy tax payers and changes to Medicaid and Medicare.
