Demographic and Health Surveys- MEASURE DHS

Looks like TFR was actualy reducing and not stalling as was earlier said.
This downward trend could very well be as a result of increased contracetive use but the effect of HIV on fertility should also be studied more closely. If KDHS and last year's KAIS data sets can be linked (which might be tough), a clear understanding of this association ... See Morecould be established than what the other KDHS further analysis have been able to do.
I would love do this because literature review clearly indicates need for further analysis.

Thanks, Hellen, for your thoughtful comment! And we always encourage the further exploration and analysis of our data. The dataset for the KDHS will be available after the final report is released in a few months, so we will keep you posted on its availability. For other researchers out there, our datasets are always available to download for free at our website (www.measuredhs.com).

Dear Hellen,

Forsure low TFRs in kenya have been linked to increased contraceptive use. However, the linkage btw HIV prevalence and fertility is still unclear.

I dont understand why you would want to combine KDHS and KAIS datasets because KAIS will enanble you to know the number of women at childbearing age who are HIV+, which does not mean that they cant procreate. Unless TFR among these HIV+ women is very low, then you cannot conclude that theres a positive effect. (i think).

DHS,

Thanks, I look forward for its release.

Dear Ann,... See More

I agree with your point and I see a great challenge there. I think I will do my homework and study the two data sets especially their variables and methodology.
