You will lke the facility, bathrooms, showers etc. Nice camp spots and cabin rentals for those less pioneer spirited folks. Do a little fishing while you are there, you should enjoy your outing.

All the campgrounds up near Woods Canyon Lake take dogs as long as they are leashed. They are about 30 minutes from Payson. Everything is first come first serve, reservations are no longer taken for the rest of the season. Hope that helps.

Nancy Pakan Just got back from one of my fav little campgrounds. Lynx Lake is a great place to spend the weekend with friend's and family. My Granddaughter Ashly caught a small trout with her bare hands. Then of course a little trip to town " Prescott " for a a walk down Wiskey Row to eat ha ha Cake Batter Ice Cream.

wants to let everyone know- if you go to Lava River Caves-(Flag area) DEF make sure you have on proper shoes, thick socks, and pants to cover legs in case of falls. It truly is very slippery in parts. Also bring water to drink- and snacks- and also be sure the 3 recommended light sources have WORKING batteries! If you ...bring pets- as we saw many dogs- pls have shoes on them too! I saw enough bloody paws to turn my tummy
---> love your pet? Keep them safe~ some were limping due to cutting pads of paws. Hope everyone enjoys the hike at least once... =-)

Camp Arizona- Your Arizona Camping Resource Guide

Camp Arizona- Your Arizona Camping Resource Guide I made a smilebox of the Havasupai trip. Everyone should go here at least once in their lifetime. We are lucky that this is so close to Phoenix. The hike in was much easier than I thought it would be.

It was only $85 to hike out. for 3 night it was only $96. and the prices at the store and the restaurant were very reasonable. Basically what you would expect to pay at a diner in Phoenix. The weather was a little warm at night but I would recommend this trip to anyone.

Oh, THAT is a great hike and worth having to sign up for a permit before hand. NO RAIN, NO RAIN! Be CAREFUL with the incoming hurricane moisture.

Woods Canyon will be open. Fires are well away from that area. Might be a little smoke in the mornings. But other than that, we are up and running. :)

Fishing has been good from what I hear. Had someone catch a few 2 and 3lbs the last couple days. The water temp is dropping so they are biting. Hopefully they do for you. :) And I was just informed they have started construction early, I would take 261 to miss the delays! Have fun

Kathy Sieracki Werner We are camping on the rim labor day weekend with the kids. We can't wait to escape the heat.

Jamie Scott Leslie

Jamie Scott Leslie Anyone experience Lynx Lake on Labor day? I'm wanting to go up on 9/3/09 to get a site because I know it's a first come first serve campground (trying to beat the Friday rush). Think that will be soon enough to get a good site?

Adrienne

Adrienne we'll be in the Big Lake rec area during Labor Day vac...know it's chilly at night...any experienced campers out there have a word of advice about the territory during that time of year? Also bringing the dog....any suggestions for dog friendly hiking trails? Thanks!

Take a camera, the vast expanses and tree lined horizons are incredible. I like taking a road and just driving sometimes, wildlife is abundant especially around the East Fork of the Black River.
