Campaign for More Women in Municipal Government FAN SURVEY: The issue of whether politcal party leaders should unilaterally appoint women candidates in certain ridings came up again this week, when Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff declared that the Montreal riding of Outremont would be reserved for a woman candidate. Do you think party leaders should set aside winnable ridings for women candiates or allow a competitive nomination process to go forward?

Pam McConnell We received over 60 applications from young women interested in our mentoring program with women councillors in Toronto. Once again, I am thrilled with the ethnic and cultural diversity of the applicants and the wealth of experiences that they have already accumulated. It will be difficult to select our finalists. All of these young women will certainly make profound contributions to our city and our country.
