When the world goes into an economic downturn, it turns to chocolate. According to a report from London market research firm Mintel, chocolate sales rose in several countries, especially in China (18 percent) and the Ukraine (12 percent), as well as a more modest 2.6 percent in the U.S.
Snake & Butterfly
This chocolate-tasting event is a benefit for UCSC re-entry student scholarships. Come and enjoy the finest confections that Santa Cruz and California have to offer! We'll have plenty of space to roam the Festival tables. This year's event will feature a magical demonstration of tuning cacao beans into chocolate by Ann...e Baldzikowski, chef instructor at Cabrillo College.
Tickets go on sale January 4.

S&B will be buying, preparing, and serving (and eating!) a hot Sunday dinner every other month at Julian Street Inn.
"Julian Street Inn is the only facility in Santa Clara County that provides emergency shelter to clients diagnosed with mental illness. We have 70 beds available for individual men and women diagnosed wit...h mental illness and actively engaged in the mental health care system. Clients may stay for up to 60 days."
