OK, true story.

It was a balmy late spring day - that's right, LILAC SEASON! This is my favorite time to go to my families cabin up on the Sacandaga Reservoir for several reasons: the fishing is great and the lilacs are out. Behind the cabin are a huge row of lilac bushes, and the whole air smelled like sweet holy goodness all around the cabin. I went behind the cabin to pick a few bunches and stick them in a bowl of water indoors. (I love the scent so much that I was willing to put my Mom's allergies to the test.) As I approached the lilac area the wonderful scent started to mingle with a less than desirable odor. Yes, the closer I got the more pungent this odor became. Finally I stood right in front of the lilacs, shears in hand, and instead of being enveloped by the earth shatteringly wonderful aroma of lilacs I could not help but notice this rank and truly nauseating odor.
