I think of a woman in a small Central Texas town who I interviewed as part of the Hunger Study. She shared, as part of the study, that she had graduated college. After we were done, she chatted a bit, and the issue of her education came up again. "How did this happen to me?" she seemed to be saying. "I did what I was supposed to do; I got my education. How did this happen to me? How did I end up living in poverty, without enough money to purchase food to feed myself?"

Capital Area Food Bank of Texas We are thankful for our volunteer community.

We celebrate the year-round work of our volunteers with our annual Volunteer Potluck. All our volunteers: students, administrative, community event and donation sorting volunteers took part in the fun. Each volunteer brought his/her favorite holiday treat to share as a way of... celebrating and saying thanks for our 77,000 volunteer hours last year.
