As you probably already know, The Point, Cardiff Bay, has been threatened with closure. Owners of the live music venue are now counting down to May 21st when a court will decide its fate. Remember folks, you can voice your support to save the venue by visiting www.keepthepointalive.com

Here’s a piece of junk philosophy for you: the music industry, like life, is not quite as simple as it seems. To most people, it’s all about The Singer or The Song, but behind every million seller there’s what’s technically known as ‘the other stuff’.

For ‘other stuff’ read: rehearsal rooms, studios, managers, lawyers, producers, agents, promoters, pluggers, distributors… The list is almost endless. But without these building blocks, you can kiss goodbye to your dreams.

It’s ‘the other stuff’ that we’re really good at. WMF is the first port of call for individuals, Small Businesses and Start-Ups who need information on the music industry in Wales.

Check out our website - for starters there's a comprehensive Directory, news stories and details on how you can play a part in the evolution of the music industry in Wales by becoming a Stakeholder or a Friend of Foundation.

Dyma dalp o athronyddu arwynebol i chi - dyw’r diwydiant cerddoriaeth, fel bywyd, ddim mor syml ag y mae’n ymddangos. Y Canwr neu’r Gân sy’n cael sylw’r rhan fwyaf o bobl, ond y tu ôl i bob cân lwyddiannus, mae cant a mil o bethau’n digwydd – y ‘pethau eraill yna’ fel y’u gelwir yn aml.

Mae’r ‘pethau eraill yna’ yn cynnwys: ystafelloedd ymarfer, stiwdios, rheolwyr, cyfreithwyr, cynhyrchwyr, asiantiaid, hyrwyddwyr, cwmnïau dosbarthu… Mae’r rhestr yn ddiddiwedd. Ond heb yr elfennau hollbwysig hyn, waeth i chi anghofio’ch breuddwydion.

Yn y ‘pethau eraill yna’ rydyn ni’n rhagori. Y Welsh Music Foundation yw’r man cychwyn ar gyfer unigolion, busnesau bach a busnesau newydd sydd angen gwybodaeth am y diwydiant cerddoriaeth yng Nghymru.

Gwyliwch ein wefan - i ddechrau mae yna gyfeirlyr cynhwysfawr, straeon newyddion a manylion ynglŷn â sut gallwch chi fod yn rhan o esblygiad y diwydiant cerddoriaeth yng Nghymru trwy fod yn Rhanddeiliad, neu’n Ffrind i’r SCG.
