Blake Calvin so im a perty new runner and i was wondering what would be the best spike for a 1600m and 3200m for track?

The Victory would work. Some have found the Victory a difficult shoe to wear in the 3200 though. A better choice might be the Mamba.

well, if you have strong calves, victories will be fine for the 3200, Mambas are primarily steeple shoes though.. so if your thinking about trying out the steeple chase, go for the mambas. otherwise, VICTORIES!

Peter Von Francia

Peter Von Francia do you kno if saucony is coming out with a new steeple spike since Fam signed w/ them? I used the mamba's last year but I wasn't a big fan. I wore the saucony endorphin LD for xc & now for indoor & really like them. I really wanna try to stick w/ saucony for outdoors in the steeplechase.

Saucony is coming out with the Endorphin LD 2 in December. Most of the steeplechase spikes that brands come out with (except Nike) tend to be the same as their distance spikes but with a little more open mesh and small holes in the bottom.

Kamren Slim Jim Robinson

Kamren Slim Jim Robinson i want to focus on the 1600m and 3200m and a few 5000m races, im torn between the nike victorys and matumbos, which do you think would be best?

Sun at 7:00pm · Report

the matumbo's pretty aggressive for a long distance spike too, so it'll with the extra support and cushion for the 5k's and 32's you'll be better off. I wore victories this season for 3200s and i felt like that was pushing it because of the lack of cushioning.

Garrick,

Definitely not. There is a reason you see every sprinter in every major international race wearing a sprinting spike. If you are on a budget, there are plenty of good sprinting shoes for $30 or less on our site. Follow the link below to check them out.

There is plenty of cushioning in that shoe and they will work very well for you in both of those events. An even better option would be the Puma Harambee. They are lighter and cheaper.

They are designed to be used on pretty much any surface you'll encounter during a cross country race. You might want to take the spikes out or put in blanks if the course has a considerable amount of asphalt, concrete or gravel though.
