Unemployment percentages, based as they are on people officialy listed as out of work, are probably not correct. Then compare those same numbers for the time in question. Only then can you develop a real statement of what percentage of the population is unemployed, and make a com,parison as to whether one point in time is better than another. Until that happens, I shall follow my history and economics professors advice, and take such statements "cum grano salus".
