If you displayed plants in containers on your patio or deck this year, it's time to get them ready for cold weather so that plants left in them survive the winter, and the container itself is not damaged.

An introduction to pastry making workshop is being offered by the U of I Extension, Hancock County Unit. This one-session class will be held on November 11, 2009, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the Hancock County Extension Office. The cost for this class is $15 per person or $25 for an adult/child pair.
The class, taught by S...hirley Camp, Nutrition Educator for U of I Extension, will include demonstrations, but will be primarily a hands-on workshop. Participants will learn how to make basic pie crust dough and will use the dough to make a one-crust pie shell, an individual lemon tart and an apple turnover to take home.
Participants should bring a rolling pin, pastry blender & pastry cloth (both are optional), and an 8 or 9-inch pie pan. There will also be emphasis on safe & healthy cooking. It is requested that hand or wrist jewelry are not worn, if possible.
