Appropriately, Carthage opens up the new floor against former Southwest Conference rival Nevada at 6 p.m.

The Carthage Press The prep basketball season, believe it or not, is right around the corner. The Carthage Invitational, as always, kicks off the season. The tournament, which will be played for the first time at the brand new Carthage High School gym, begins Monday, Nov. 30. A tournament meeting will be held Wednesday evening.

United Way benefits American Red Cross
The Carthage United Way is in the midst of its 2009 fund drive. The
goal is to raise $310,000 to distribute to area groups and agencies
that help people.
In the past three issues The Carthage Press told you about
the food pantries run by the Salvation Army, Crosslines and the Crisis
Ce...nter. These are three of the 14 agency members of the Carthage United
Way that benefit from the money raised in Carthage.
