Harrison Gillett Looking to create a promo code to apply a given dollar amount discount to the TOTAL of the cart. Not off of individual products in the cart. Anybody have a thread, KB, article, advice, etc..? CW3 CF

The way it is now you could just create the promo code and then apply it to all the products. If you have a lot of products where this would be too time consuming you could create a script to populate the relationship to the promo code ID for all products at once. Would just take a little bit of SQL.

Thanks for you input. Appreciate your time. Just an FYI for everybody here. If you wanted to run a special with a promocode that said something like: "Enter this promo code when checking out and get $10 off your Order!!" You couldn't do it with out getting into the code. You can apply $10 off any one or all of them individually but not to the TOTAL of the Order. If I can figure it out I'll share my info.

Brad Wieland

Brad Wieland One of my clients wants me to build registration/signup funtionality for their site. They do NOT use eCommerce, but I'm wondering if the Customer Account Plug-in could be used without the eCommerce part. Would that make sense? I've not ever used this plug-in. Thanks for your help!

Yes, this could be done. The "product" could be what they are registering for, then just don't hook up to a gateway - if no gateway is configured Cartweaver will be in test mode and the credit card / payment processing with be hidden and disabled. If you add the Customer Account ad on to the mix a user could sign up without even going through the ... See Morecart process. - One note though. If they are JUST signing up and the client never intends to sell anything, using Cartweaver for this could be serious over-kill. There are more efficient ways to go.

In case you didn’t hear, we officially made ColdFusion 9 hosting plans available to the public this month—I say “officially” because we’ve technically been offering CF9 for more than six months, beginning ...

Cartweaver Adobe just released a Hot Fix for ColdFusion 9 - http://bit.ly/djPR1x - If you are running it locally and haven’t had any issues you probably don't have to worry about it, but if you are running it on a live server it's a good idea to apply it.

doesn't this defeat the purpose though?? Why not just kill the session timeout functionality in the code so that it never times out. Either way the log in protected area is exposed to anyone and everyone during the inactive period.

Now a JQuery script that utilizes the web-cam to use as a motion sensor for this purpose might be a good idea. As long as you're sitting in your seat the session stays alive, as soon as you get up and leave your seat the session expires. That might be handing in more ways than one.

You can set a Session time out setting in your code, such as in the cfapplication tag for CF, but the problem is most shared hosts set their servers to override this setting and go by the server configuration.... I like your other two suggestions. jQuey is magic after all and should be able to do this!

hi Ralph; We continue to support and sell CW AS, but long term, we will not be doing new development for future versions and new add-ons. Traditional ASP is loosing more and more ground all the time and we, as are many other companies, are encouraging developers to make the move to PHP or ColdFusion. Both languages are robust and are being updated ... See Moreand continually developed to keep pace with the changing web. This is why we offer a sizable discount to ASP users that wish to make the move to one of these platforms.
