Cat Lover's Book of Days Anyone remember the schmoos from the Li'l Abner comics? Apparently Lee Reizan Holmes does, because here is her Schmoo - all 18 pounds of handsome boy cat. Lee says that Schmoo usually crosses his paws in front of him, but for this photo shoot he chose a more traditional, Sphynx-like pose.

Cat Lover's Book of Days This beautiful tabby had the name "Fireball" when Monica Tombers took her home from the shelter. Since the cat was quiet and shy, that name didn't really fit. When the cat would come around, Monica started saying "Na, Du?" which is a friendly German expression for "Hey, you?" Before long, the cat had a new name...Nahdew.

Cat Lover's Book of Days I'm singin' and dancin' in the rain this afternoon. Even though the remnants of Hurricane Ida are soaking the mid-Atlantic region, the sun is shining in my office because of the print proofs in my hands. Here's what a book cover looks like before it is wrapped around boards and attached to what will soon be your favorite cat book!

Cat Lover's Book of Days I love to watch cats during "crazy time" - the wide eyes, the mad dashes, the transformation from quiet lapcat to crazed feline that happens instantaneously. This picture of Spiderman looks like it's his "crazy time," but perhaps he's just in his usual superhero mode. Natalie DiGiacomo shares her home with cats Tuesday... and Wednesday, all protected by this courageous Spiderman, who clearly likes to keep an eye on his domain from a lofty perch.

Nancy Ann Stolfo-Corti Can't wait to hold in my hands!

Cat Lover's Book of Days Do you like baby pictures...especially if those babies have sweet faces and lots of fur? Then here's your daily kitten fix: Kali Ko and Snuggles. Deborah J. Rebolloso's girls took great baby pictures, didn't they?

Cat Lover's Book of Days Two little panthers prowl the Wear home wearing shiny black coats and looking so much alike that even Anne Wear can't say for sure which is which. Here they seem to be practicing their wild Halloween looks.

Cat Lover's Book of Days You know how sometimes a cat just LOOKS at you? And you know he's trying to tell you something that your feeble human brain can't decipher? I think this is one of those times. Thomas the Tail-Less Cat (that's his full name) sat for his portrait taken by Mary A. Wilkin. What is the message in those eyes?

Cat Lover's Book of Days Meet Melissa Galt and her neighbor, Inky. Melissa says that Inky is the best Halloween cat because of his deep, dark coat and his single fang. When she's not looking, Inky likes to slip into Melissa's house for a visit!

Cat Lover's Book of Days
Back from a weekend away for a high school reunion. Great fun, but oh, so tiring! Now it's the final run up to publication day for The Cat Lover's Book of Days. As often happens, the schedule has slipped, but we're still fine for holiday gifts.
And now for today's cats: Yin and Yang are Melissa Galt's special friends. ...They are sisters, from the same litter but with different daddies! Melissa says they were runts, but they look like fine felines today.

Cat Lover's Book of Days Anyone else have a burrowing cat? When the weather turns cold, as it just has, Pipsqueak hauls herself up onto our bed and burrows under the covers so that all you can see is a large lump and sometimes one white paw. If you touch the lump you hear faint squeaks and purring. Keep at it and you get some "leave me alone" ...whines. When it's people bed time she reluctantly relinquishes her claim, but she'll be back again the next day. The photo is classic Pipsqueak burrow, or as we say, a thorough burrow.
