CeaseFirePA West Mifflin Township in Allegheny County became the 22nd jurisdiction to pass a Lost or Stolen Handgun ordinance. Council voted 6-1 despite a full house consisting of the NRA and other guns-at-all-costs supporters. Our effort was led by CeaseFirePA board member Mary Beth Hacke, who lost her 14-month-old son to random ...gun fire, and our western Pa coordinator Jana Finder.

CeaseFirePA This morning’s Philadelphia Inquirer editorial sent a message loud and clear: buy an illegal gun for a criminal and you will face the consequences. Cities and towns across PA are fed up—they are supporting Lost or Stolen Handgun Reporting to protect their communities and encourage the PA General Assembly to pass statewide reform.

If more lowlifes got the message that gun trafficking in Philadelphia would earn them years behind bars, maybe city streets would be less dangerous for brave officers like slain Police Sgt. Patrick McDonald.

Tom Buglio

Tom Buglio Thank goodness there are some mayors with backbone, and an organization in my state that fights the good fight to protect us from the philosophy of the NRA and like minded people. It really is amazing how powerful the NRA has been, and how weak our gun laws really are, especially after the many high profile shootings.... What will it take to get background checks at the many gun shows in PA? What will it take to bring back the assault rifle ban? How can any sane country permit the lax laws we have and all of the killings that happen every day with guns that could be easily prevented?

It is remarkable how these small towns in Western Pennsylvania are passing these laws. Two years ago this was perceived as a Philadelphia issue. At least that how's the NRA tried to deflect it. Hopefully, the gubnatorial candidates are watching this movement and will realize they can't simply cater to the NRA. There is a new deputy sheriff in town.
