My name is Kimberly i've made this page as a fan of Brown's, to answer your question Brown's father was none other than David Slyvester who conducted those in famous now published interviews with Francis Bacon. Bacon would actually take Brown around galleries when she was a little girl and look at pieces of work with... her, as i recall it Brown would remember Bacon turning to her and saying something like 'it just doesn't work does it?' referring to things that didn't aesthetically function in satisfactory way to Bacon. So it is fair to say she is a big fan! Check out the David Slyvester interviews with Bacon they're fantastic!

Cecily Brown Oh and thanks so much for your interest Jenise, i have created another page for Marlene Dumas a painter working in the Netherlands but originates from South Africa check it out!

Cecily Brown Yeah, she is incredible high demand and has a huge waiting list for commissions on her work so at least there's time to save up for one! I'm keeping my ear to the ground for any future shows she's in though....

Hey Jenise
My name is Kimberly and i've set up this page as a modest attempt to pay homage to one of my favorite painters. There are many catalogues available on amazon that should be able to answer your lithograph question, i personally have never seen any from her but you never know.
Hope this message finds you well
Thanks!
Kimberly

When it comes to being artists, women can be as bad as men. The problem is that even now, decades after the onset of women's liberation, women aren't being allowed to demonstrate this. I doubt that there's a conscious effort to keep women from showing, yet the percentage of women exhibiting in New York galleries and mu...seums is grievously low. According to the fall exhibition schedules for 125 well-known New York galleries—42 percent of which are owned or co-owned by women—of 297 one-person shows by living artists taking place between now and December 31, just 23 percent are solos by women.
