Our raffle charity for the quarter of October/November/December is the Linn County Veteran Affairs. For further information please check the Listserv as the meeting time gets closer.

We are continuing to take donations for Waypoint Services’ two shelters – Madge Phillips Center for the Homeless and the Domestic Violence Shelter. They need plastic shopping bags, small food containers, and especially the non-perishable canned and boxed food. Please go to their Web site at www.waypointservices.org for an updated list of their needs.

They offer crisis counseling services, suicide intervention, a food bank, and ...short term emergency services for the people of Johnson County. The One Particular Harbor picnic for September will be at Cherry Hill Park in NW Cedar Rapids – unless it rains! In case it does, we will gather at City Beat, 304 Third Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids.

The picnic starts around 5:30 p.m. for Parrot Heads, Parakeets and well-behaved pets. Meat will be provided by the club and a co...uple of board members will be manning the grill. Please bring a dish to share, your tableware, and beverage of choice.

A donation jar will be provided to help defray the cost of the meat.

Attention baseball fans and Cedar Island Band followers!

It is not too late to join all your friends at the Cedar Rapids
Kernels game on August 14. The Cedar Island Band plays
before the game from approximately 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. and
after the game from approximately 9 p.m. - 11 p.m. For an
added bonus, Doug Rassler, lead sin...ger with the Cedar
Island Band, will be singing the National Anthem!

To further entice you, a pre-game picnic package is available. The package (see price below) includes a club ticket, which is usually $9.00, and all you can eat and drink from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. They will have hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, potato chips, popcorn, peanuts, pop and beer. The picnic will be located in the area behind the left field concession stand. We will then all be seated together as a group for the game. They will give you a wristband and you can come and go from the picnic area to get your food and beverage.

The Price:
Ages 13 & above: $20.00 each
Ages 4 - 12: $16.00 each
Ages 3 and under: FREE

You do not have to be a club member to participate in this.
