Celebrating 100 Years of Actors' Equity In November of 1959, the 16th to be exact, Rodger's & Hammerstein's SOUND OF MUSIC opened on Broadway, starring Mary Martin and Theo Bikel, who served as AEA President from 1973 to 1982. Celebrating 100 Years of Actors' Equity Oct 13, 1962: The Actors Federal Credit Union is chartered, aimed at "dealing effectively with the actor's perennial problems in obtaining credit, getting loans, and money management in general". Happy birthday, AFCU!
