I loved my CIE tour of Ireland. Our bus driver and guide John Byrne was the greatest. He had tons of CDs and would program songs to the exact places we were at. Best was at Yeats Grave in Drumcliff and he played the Waterboys singing "The Stolen Child." Talk about getting shivers down your spine.

I'm really sorry to hear that CIE has poor press.
Our tour was wonderful; our tour guide showed up places that weren't even on the intenierary. He was truly professional and went out of his way to assure that everyone had a wonderful time.
His knowledge of Irish history was outstanding and he shared the history of every town we passed through.
Hotels were wonderful--tour went very smoothly.
We were kind of leery of driiving on our first trip to Ireland---so this tour was a pleasant surprise and much more than we had expected.... Read More
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend CIE to those people who are interested in an escorted tour.
I suppose this is not the most ideal way to see Ireland, but it was such a wonderful introduction to the country.
