Performance Ecology è una struttura che serve a sviluppare le risorse fisiche, emozionali e immaginative di ogni attore. Nel lavoro proposto, mentre l'esecutore lotta per la padronanza del corpo e la voce, la vitalità e la sua volontà d’agire, è impegnato nel processo di ricordarsi, rivelarsi e compiersi.
Performance Ecology coinvolge l'addestramento creativo negli elementi di base del mestiere dell'attore: esercizi fisici, lavoro con la voce, attenzione e percezione, precisione e flusso, vedere, ascoltare, venire a contatto, e il montaggio delle azioni fisiche. Il lavoro con le canzoni della cultura del participante e le canzoni di altre tradizioni, gli esercizi di coordinazione, le diverse azioni, le improvvisazioni strutturate, la drammaturgia, il montaggio, e altri strumenti del lavoro dell' attore giungono al culmine nel “Rendering”, struttura preformativa che offre l'occasione ad ogni participante di inpegnarsi nella dinamica della rappresentazione.
Performance Ecology è un tentativo per riscoprire l'urgenza di agire. I partecipanti si esprimono in schemi vocali e movimenti dalle cui tensioni e composizioni di energie si rivela un unica potenza e precisione.
Performance Ecology è un evento performativo che incoraggia il compito di creare una cultura attiva. È uno strumento che crea comunità mantenendo l'individualità, la creatività e la dignità culturale del partecipante.
Sotto la lunga esperienza di formazione di attori di James Slowiak e Jairo Cuesta il lavoro in Performance Ecology cerca di liberare nell' attore la sua energia dormiente e i sue impulsi creativi. Slowiak e Cuesta sonno Co-direttori artistici del New World Performance Laboratory basato nelle Stati Uniti. www.nwplab.org

New World Performance Laboratory
James Slowiak Professore d'arte drammatica all' Università di Akron OH. Dal 1983 all'89, James Slowiak é stato assistente di Jerzy Grotowski nel Programma di Ricerca sul Teatro Oggettivo all'Università di Irvine-CA ed al Workcenter di Pontedera in Italia. La collaborazione di Slowiak con Grotowski è citata nel articolo scritto nel'91 su The Drama Review e se ne discute sul libro Al lavoro con Grotowski sulle azioni fisiche di Thomas Richards edito nel `95. Slowiak ha ottenuto l'MFA in regia all'Università della California, il BA in antropologia , francese e arte drammatica al Macalester College. Ha co-fondato ed é stato direttore artistico At Random Theatre Ensemble a St. Paul Minnesota, 1977-1982. Ha diretto più di quaranta eventi teatrali, ed ha condotto numerosi workshops in Europa, Asia, e nelle Americhe. Per il NWPL Slowiak ha diretto The Ancients, Mother's Work, Epiphany 1, Veredas, The Book of Saints and Martyrs, Woyzeck, HamletMachine, Essential Demonstrations, Love in The Time of Lunatics, Ellettra, Living Dust, Winsburg,Ohio.
Jairo Cuesta di origine colombiana, è attore e regista teatrale. Ha collaborato con Jerzy Grotowski nel Teatro delle Sorgenti e nel progetto Objective Drama dal 1976 al 1986, lavorando in Polonia, Francia, Italia, Messico, Haiti, e negli USA. Ha partecipato nei laboratori preliminari al Mahabarata a Parigi, sotto la guida di Peter Brook. È stato Artista Ospite presso l’Università di Parigi, l’Università della California-Irvine,il Colorado College, l’Eckerd College, la Case Western Reserve University e l’Università di Akron dove ha diretto “Finale di partita” di Samuel Beckett. Ha condotto numerosi laboratori sulla Performance Ecology e le tecniche dell’attore in tutto il mondo. Ha realizzato performances teatrali come attore e regista in oltre 10 nazioni.
