I still feel that Craig McNamara's contribution to agricultural education for teens is great. Also, is the "SLEWS BBQ" sign still in the chicken coupe?

Center for Land-Based Learning thinks it's never to late to thank all the mentors who attended last Saturday's training! We learned planting techniques, installed irrigation, and enjoyed a beautiful morning together.

Center for Land-Based Learning SLEWS program had another great field day with students from the MET Sacramento High School! We worked to prepare our project site, Dry Creek 128, for planting by weeding areas to be planted, removing non-native almond trees, and flagging areas for replants. In the afternoon, we identified and learned more about the native plants. Click on the Link below for the Field Day Report and photos!

Center for Land-Based Learning SLEWS staff and mentors spent a great day with students from Grant High yesterday! We spent the morning at beautiful Blue Oak Ranch so students could explore a healthy riparian forest and then visited our project site, Dry Creek City of Winters. What a contrast! Together we envisioned the transformation of our project site from relatively bare to a diverse riparian plant community. Can't wait to get started!

Center for Land-Based Learning Some inspiration overheard at a SLEWS visit to Blue Oak Ranch yesterday while exploring the creekbed: "This is soooo cool." "I just can't get over the fact that I'm walking where water will be." "My parents don't go places like this. We don't go camping. If I didn't learn this stuff here I wouldn't learn it at all."
