Open letter to the European Parliament - Telecom Package

.. The drafting of an Open letter to the European Council, advocating the principles of Network Neutrality and Privacy Protection in the online environment, was initiated in late-January 2009 and is about to be published on February 16th - same day when the European Council will transmit its common position to the EP in light of the upcoming second EP reading of the Telecom Package proposal. The declaration - drafted by a coalition of internet, media and communications NGOs and policy research institutes - states concern on those amendments to the Telecoms Package which affect the Internet and its users...

CMCS Academic Chair receives the 2008 „Media Award" of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Budapest
On December 15, 2008 at the venue of the Hungarian Science Academy, the Romanian Cultural Institute (RCI) in Budapest celebrated three of the most successful Hungarian personalities of the year 2008 in the field of music, literature and media. In a festive environment gathering the top cultural, academic and foreign diplomacy scenes of Budapest, CMCS Academic Chair, Prof. Miklos Sukosd received the 2008 „Media Aaward" handed to him by the RCI Budapest Director, Dr. Brindusa Armanca. The prise acknowledged Prof. Sukosd's on-going contribution to the consolidation of solidariy among media practitioners and researchers through high-profile international projects establishing a new media agenda in Central and Eastern Europe and beyond.

"Council of Europe Accused of Secrecy Over Convention on Transparency - Public kept in the dark on world’s first international treaty on access to information
Human rights organisations working on government transparency have filed a request with the Council of Europe for information about the future Convention on Access to Official Documents. The convention, still in draft form, has been heavily criticised and is being finalized under a shroud of secrecy.
The Information Request filed with the Council of Europe on 14 November seeks to know the conclusions of a 12 November meeting convened to consider whether or not to act on the strong criticism of the draft Convention made by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
