Growing up in a fairly musical family with guitars and a piano in the house, I've always been surrounded by music. I took piano lessons with Grandpa by day, and fell asleep at night to the sound of mom finger-picking on her guitar in the living room, like a live lullaby. In 5th grade I began 5 years on the trumpet and big band jazz tunes, and at 15 began to flirt with the acoustic guitar that leaned against the side of the piano. It was an on/off relationship until about 18 when we got serious, and have been going steady ever since.

As a musician I tend to draw from a wide variety of musical influences from classical, jazz, soul, rock, and everything in between, and I suffer from being easily inspired. Often times I’ll hear an album or see a concert and think ‘Wow, my music needs to sound like that’. And then hear something completely different and think the same thing. Then I finally come back around and realize, ‘people are going to like my music because it’s my music, not because I copied someone else’s.’

As a songwriter I'm constantly striving for a new and different way to say the same things that have been said since the dawn of songwriting, whether about young love, life experience, or expressing deep faith and gratitude to my Creator. I thank God for the gift of music, and I thank YOU for listening- there's a lot more to come. :)
