Cheer DC wants you to know about SMYAL's Fall Brunch on Sunday, September 20. This fun and worthwhile event raises money for SMYAL, the only DC metro area service organization solely dedicated to supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth. GUIDING PRINCIPLES The 2014 Washington, DC Gay Games Bid will uphold the guiding principles of the Federation of Gay Games of Participation, Inclusion, and Personal Best®. The 2014 Washington, DC Gay Games will be a regional effort and will include neighboring jurisdictions in Maryland and Virginia. The theme of the... 2014 Washington, DC Gay Games will be "Freedom" and will be international in scope, focus, and implementation. The 2014 Washington, DC Gay Games will aim to be a revenue generating proposal for the Federation of Gay Games and be cost conscious and fully transparent in all expenditures, budget estimates, and financial reports. In addition to a strong and competitive Sports Program, the 2014 Washington, DC Gay Games will include and promote a vibrant and creative Cultural Festival. The 2014 Washington DC Gay Games will place a high priority on being environmentally conscious by maximizing the use of Metro and mass transit and by reducing the carbon footprint of all activities to the lowest possible level. The 2014 Washington, DC Gay Games will strive for gender parity in all activities and leadership opportunities. The 2014 Washington, DC Gay Games will reach out to underrepresented communities with targeted events and a comprehensive and extensive Scholarship Program that will help the FGG build its member base for future Games. The 2014 Washington, DC Gay Games will not seek to build any new structures for events, but utilize existing venues with a particular emphasis on local schools, universities, and recreational facilities.
